3 X Gallery tour
- In Uusikaupunki, it’s easy to step into the world of culture, with a variety of experiences available at a low threshold. Now, let’s head out on a tour of a few local galleries—come along!
Galleria-Taidelainaamo Horisontti
Alinenkatu 24
Maintained by the Uusikaupunki Art Society, Horisontti is not only an exhibition space but also an art lending service. From the exhibitions, which change roughly every month, you can rent artworks for your home at an affordable monthly fee.
Each year features around ten exhibitions, mainly showcasing works by local artists. The gallery’s goal is to highlight art from Uusikaupunki and serve as a kind of cultural hub on the city’s main street. Occasionally, works by visiting professional artists are also exhibited.
Members of the Art Society take care of the gallery’s opening hours and are happy to introduce both the exhibition and its artworks. Currently on display is the society’s own exhibition, continuing with slight changes until the end of April. The exhibition “The Skill of Seeing” features works by Hiltu Sallinen, Seija Itäranta, Valto Vaalikivi, Kirsti Lento, Heli Sammalisto, Kyösti Hallikainen, Juhani Vuorisalmi, Esko Lappalainen, Tiina Kuusikoski, and Kai Relanti.
The exhibition also includes a curated theme that visitors can use as a lens for interpreting the artworks.

Runonkulman galleria

The gallery often features artists from Uusikaupunki and nearby areas, but exhibitions have also been brought in from further afield, including Vaasa, Jyväskylä, and the Helsinki region. In addition to the main exhibitions, shorter pop-up exhibitions—lasting about a week—are occasionally held.
The April exhibition “Spring Meeting” presents paintings and ceramics by six members of the Rauma Artists’ Association: Tuula Kallas, Salme Kauppi, Risto Keinonen, Taru-Taina Nora, Jenny Vuorela, and Vilma Wallenström. The May exhibition is part of the 50th anniversary program of the Vakka-Suomi Art Association, featuring works by its members under the theme “New and Old.”
