Summer Jobs in Uusikaupunki – Tul toril! Coordinator
- When 20-year-old Aino Grönros started her seasonal job in the spring as a market coordinator leading summer events, the shoes felt big to fill. But in just a few months, the responsible role has taught her courage and how to manage large entities.
“I had spent the past five summers working in a café and, even before that, helped out at the neighbors’ summer café. This spring, a friend told me about a summer job at Uki Outlet, and I got interested. I asked if they still had positions available, but everything had already been filled.
A month later, I received an email asking if I would be interested in a summer job that combined the roles of a market coordinator and a staff member at Uki Outlet. The offer sounded intriguing, so I took the job.
In the spring, I worked more days at Uki Outlet, but now in the summer, I’ve focused on the market coordinator tasks. I’m organizing the Saturday ‘Tul toril!’ theme markets and the ‘Action Thursday’ events.
The job has been quite different from what I expected. From the outside, you don’t realize how much work goes into organizing a single event or everything that happens behind the scenes. At first, it was hard to grasp such large-scale tasks—it felt like there was so much going on that I couldn’t possibly remember it all. But I don’t feel that way anymore. Teija from the business services team has been a huge help throughout the summer and has created a relaxed working atmosphere. During the summer, I’ve learned to see the bigger picture and understand what each part requires.

The best part of this job is its variety. Saturdays at the market are especially enjoyable—when the event runs smoothly, people show up, and I can literally see the results of my work.
This job is great for someone creative and full of ideas who isn’t shy about speaking up. I’ve really enjoyed it, and I believe this experience will be useful in many ways in the future.”
