Women's Day has quite a significant meaning for me, as I received my first child on Women's Day in 1975. It was the first time flags were flown on Women's Day, and it coincided with my firstborn's birthday. The day has remained special even after the child moved out of the family home. We have always gathered in some group to celebrate it. I have received flowers many times. I think it's wonderful that, among the various celebration days in a year, women have their own special day.

For me, Women's Day primarily means a lot of work. The flower shop is usually very busy. I don't expect to be remembered on Women's Day myself, but I want to be available for those who wish to make purchases to commemorate it. Many roses and various ready-made arrangements are bought as gifts for Women's Day. Especially men who have moved from abroad buy impressive bouquets for Women's Day. Some companies also distribute roses to customers or employees on Women's Day.

It's great that in a patriarchally structured society, where women are still treated differently than men, there is a day when their skills and achievements are appreciated worldwide. March is also Women's History Month. The rights of women to express their opinions and exist as they are continue to be restricted, so it's really important that there's a day, and a whole month, to celebrate historically significant women who were not recognized in their own time.
